To achieve the main features of Lotus Notes, such as telecommuting and sharing information, Notes works with groups of interconnected computers in a network.
The network can be understood as a department in a company, with people working and a person responsible for this working group.
The computer in charge of this network of Notes, is called Server (Server).
Server is a central computer, high-capacity, shared by other networked computers, called clients or workstations (workstations) and receiving the service to store, manage and share information in the server. clients or workstations do not have to be connected all the time the Notes server as it provides the facilities to work offline.
